Between 2025 and 2026, I conduct a filmed ethnographic study for the French Museum of Violin Making and Bow Making in Mirecourt (Vosges), recipient of a grant from the French Ministry of Higher Education, Research and Space.

This documentary project explores the transmission of craft knowledge between generations of violin makers and bow makers, bringing together artisans’ testimonies, workshop practices and objects from the museum’s collections.

The resulting 61-minute film, “From Mirecourt: passing on the Art of Violin and Bow Making”, seeks to document the evolution of techniques, tools and sources of inspiration, while highlighting the human dimensions of transmission within these highly skilled and passionate crafts.
